"Aubrey has been amazing with the virtual lessons! Because of her tech experience, the transition from in person class to virtual lessons has been seamless."

The FAQ's of Online Lessons

Do I need any special equipment?
No! All you need is a laptop, tablet, or cell phone that can connect to Zoom. You will need a piano/keyboard (or ukulele) at home, of course! A tripod is useful to get a good viewing angle.
*Limited keyboard and ukulele rentals are available.

How do I pick my schedule?
During the school year, we collect your availability and assign a set weekly time that fits your schedule. During the summer you can schedule your own lessons using our online calendar. Lessons can also be rescheduled as needed using the online calendar.

How do I get my materials and books?
New students need new books. You can pickup your books from the studio, from the local music store, or order a copy online to get started. Some books are also available in digital format but paper is preferred for making notes/marks on music. *Books are not included in membership/tuition.

How are assignments and notes communicated to the student?
We use an app specifically designed for private music lessons called Tonara (on Apple and Android). During each lesson your teacher will update your assignments within the app. Open the app when you practice to see an organized assignment list with helpful hints, audio/video examples, and more.  See "Offline Support" below to read more about it!

What ages can take video piano lessons?
Video lessons are great for age 8+ and can easily be adapted for age 5-7 with a little parent help.

How much do online lessons cost?
Rates and policies can be found within the
studio policy

We have learned many strategies along the way and continue to research ways to improve lessons for an enjoyable online lesson experience!
Send us a message with questions you have about going online or setup a test call to try it out!

Whether its online or in-person, we make a point to connect with each student and help them learn to love music through their unique learning style. From the very beginning we focus on understanding and interpreting music notation on the page. We learn to improvise and create our own melodies and build on ideas. Students are encouraged to explore any area of music that peaks their interest and we are prepared to follow that interest wherever it may lead!

"Being able to to have lessons via Skype has been very helpful for our 10-year-old daughter. She has Crohn's disease, and is on immunosuppressant drugs, so we have been very cautious about germs for a couple years now. Whenever Miss Aubrey was sick, or a member of our family had an illness, we've been able to keep up with lessons via Skype instead of cancelling most weeks. She even conducted my daughter's lessons for her while she was staying with grandparents in NH! Duets are a little difficult to manage over Skype; other than that, it's pretty much the same thing as having the teacher there in person. They can see each other; Miss Aubrey can hear her play in real-time and correct mistakes right there. All I have to do as a parent is make sure the computer is set up in a spot where the teacher can see her and the piano keys."  ~  Christine   ~

Aubrey is a delight to work with. She is excellent with communication, scheduling, and identifying specific needs and levels of her learners. I have had the pleasure to eavesdrop on her group lessons while waiting for my daughter’s lesson to finish, and I appreciate her positive rapport with her students, engaging approach to teaching, and the personal interest and investment she takes with each of her students. I highly recommend Aubrey’s Music Studio!      ~ Stephanie  ~

My children, 6 and 8, have been taking piano lessons with Aubrey for 2 years now. It’s amazing to see my kids continue to be motivated about something that requires hard work and dedication, and I truly credit Aubrey with her talent as a teacher for inspiring my kids. Aubrey moves kids at their own pace with just the right amount of pressure, not too much, not too little. Aubrey also offers mixture of fun and creative summer camp that are inspiring and fun. My kids enjoyed the instrument exploration with different instruments and rhythm activities that are encouraging.  ~ Erica ~
